• Before finalizing the contract, define exactly with the lessor, whether an agency or private rental, all the services, the household items, the extras included with the property (eg. use of private beach, swimming pool, garage, boat, garden);

• specify in writing which other services will be included in the cost of the rental;

• specify in writing the extras not included (eg. water consumption, electricity, gas, cost for hire and change of linen, cost for weekly or final cleaning of the property);

• verify that the property is covered by a suitable insurance policy for fire, theft, damage etc;

• when collecting the keys to the property, verify the condition of the services, the furnishings, the household items and equipment;

• cancel or modify any declarations contained within the contract which are not completely correct or clear;

• create an inventory of the stock in the property and have it signed by both parties. This will avoid disagreements when returning the keys;

• when you return the keys make sure that the lessor gives a receipt;

• if you have paid an advance security deposit, the restitution of this will make it clear that there have been no losses, damage or any other costs;
