Trapani, shopping for bargains
In the province of Trapani the real estate values have recently risen, especially after the announcement of the opening of a new airport, the remodelling of some areas near the port, and the revaluation of some tourist sites, which have revamped the image of this area.
“After the Euro was brought in, prices have doubled” - Claudio Gandolfo, provincial president of the FIAIP (Italian Federation of Professional Real Estate Agents).
“This has also caused a notable increase in construction costs. Another factor is the adding of cultural phenomena and important events, which in turn increased the value of real estate; such as: the America’s Cup, which was held in Trapani, the world championship of kite surf, and various sailboat races which are mainly held in and around Marsala. The values have also increased due to the remodelling of the areas near the port, followed by some important revaluations of some tourist sites, which in turn recreated the beauty of the coasts and many archaeological sites. The most important archaeological sites include the dancing satyr of Mazara, the knight templars of Selinunte, and the Punic battleships, all of which have had a significant contribution to the increase in real estate values.
The value of real estate in this area has also increased due to the boom in construction.
In the principal cities, such as Marsala and Trapani, there are areas that are creating connections between the surrounding urban areas, where new construction sites are being created. This area is booming, which in turn tends to expand the population density towards terrain that was once used for agricultural purposes, and plus they have been waiting years for an approval to be given to new important urban planning which would then lead to further developing.
